Love to see the sport grow but still can relate being a poly boarder of different styles rediscovering surfing through a surf adapter and realizing the true cultural impact but noticing the barriers as a real sport in my community

every skateboarder knows Tas Papas did the first 900 on a skateboard before Tony pulled all his strings in the media to claim it as his own. People of the world, do not believe a word this snake oil salesman says. Tony Hawk does not represent skateboarding at all.

If equestrian is an Olympic sport, why not Formula 1 or any motorsport? I don't care if it takes 20 years, motor racing needs to be in the Olympics.

As Olympic events, they are sketchy. I've got nothing against 13-year-olds, but when they win Olympic golds you surely don't have a legit Olympic event. These are made-for-TV events–not "sports"–and they are in the Olympics because the IOC and NBC want to attract younger viewers to the TV broadcast of the Games. That's all. Same with BMX bike racing–which looks like it belongs at a state fair. You know what will be in the next Games? Disc (frisbee) golf and, get his, breakdancing. Seriously. I rest my case. Skateboarding, climbing, surfing–all cool–but just because people do something doesn't mean it should be in the Olympics, which already has way too many events. You put skateboarding in the Olympics, you should put Hula Hoop in them, too–and let's not forget jump roping. They're no different.

Climbing and surfing. Do not think either really makes sense. Climbing really should be done at actual climbing sites, and an artificial wall, and the same for surfing. There are plenty of other sports that probably have more justification, like Racquetball, Handball, some of the martial arts. It is all political.
Pretty simple:
More people do these sports than the pentathlon or fencing or etc etc. Only makes sense. Much more difficult to be at the top of a crowded field compared to some weird esoteric sport hardly anybody participates in anymore.
The taking a knee political stuff turned me off .. so i didn't watch any of these sports like millions others that just turned off NBA , NFL , Baseball and the rest of it.
What a fantastic and engaging documentary! I was enthralled and inspired! I really enjoyed watching the Women’s skateboarding and how all the competitors were so happy for each other. Watching them chair lift the final competitor after she fell on her last round was so uplifting, it nearly brought me to tears!
I really hope paintball eventually gets added that would be amazing

Snubbing BMX once again. Thanks Olympics. This was the year that BOTH skateboard park AND BMX park were to take the world stage, and just maybe get out from under the 'extreme' sports label that the 90's put us into. Looks like we're still not seen as actual athletes. Maybe in 2024 things will change? But I really had hope for the 2020 games. We're not asking for any special coverage, just EQUAL coverage.
