A table surfing challenge is sweeping the internet. An overturned folding table is tied to a car, then thrill seekers hold on as they are whipped from side to side. A teenage boy lost his life trying the stunt. David Nagy,17, was propelled into the grill of a parked car. His parents say they were stunned that he would even try such a dangerous stunt and say social media is partly to blame. The parents spoke with Inside Edition so other youngsters and their parents knew the dangers of the stunt.

It's fun but you need room man
People need to stop doing dangerous things for views. Social media has changed things so much. I remember when I started my YouTube channel, you couldn't monetize and being a "youtuber" wasnt a job. There wasnt this overwhelming pressure to record and upload for hopes of going viral.
And it's sadly not going to change any time soon. I can only hope kids start realizing the more important things in life and that social media is not a guaranteed a career. You dont put out applications for influencer jobs. It happens and if it does you're lucky.
But don't risk your life banking on the off chance that it does happen for you.
That's rough.
that is the dumbest thing to do, protect your life
You play stupid games, you win stupid prize… And the mom is telling us he is intelligent!?
Darwin's theory holding strong
at least wear a helmet thats gonna give a concussion
Im very sorry for there loss ! Come on lets use common sense and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing for clicks. Prayers to the family.
I'm so sorry for the parents, I can't imagine losing a child, thats got to be the most painful experience one can endure…with that being said, I did A LOT of stupid stuff as a teen, I'm lucky to be here today.
Momma… they know. Full well they know. SMH
Darwin always finds a way.
I mean, this generation is being raised by their phones, there’s nothing much to expect from them.
Bro why is this even a thing?
These really aren't new (dumb) ideas. Couch surfing (the stunt) has been done since the 90's. People are always gonna find ways to hurt or kill themselves, we just video record it now. For all that changes, some things will always be the same. You could be a lame ass and try and ban stupid, but that makes you a bit stupid as well, for trying something that is never going to work.
"He was so intelligent."
Got some news for you.
Many of us are very lucky to have survived our youthful years.
no helmet and armour protection whatsover and speed must be very fast.
Modern-day natural selection.
Never heard of this. Ever.
Darwins theory
I mean, I used to sketch we used to take lunch trays and in plastic trays and use them as little tiny surfboards in the back of a truck or a car get pulled down the road or parking lot. None of us never died. We’re just teenagers and I guess there’s always danger but it’s gotta be calculated danger and that’s part of the risk of being a human being.
I guess you just can't fix stupid.
Social media challenges are becoming the World Cup of Darwin Awards… What happened to parents who asked their kids "if your friends jumped off a cliff would you do it too?" This is basic stuff that children understood not to do while still in grade school when I was a kid. Seriously, where has good sense and self-preservation gone these days?
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
Teens are so freaking stupid! Doing it is one thing…. but doing it without a helmet and in shorts and a T-shirt to make sure your knees and elbows are ground into hamburger on the pavement is anther whole level of stupid….
Its not social medias fault. He was a teenage boy who thought he was invincible and you as a parent didn't maje him a believer that social media pranks are bad and ppl die as a result.
I consider this genius, sorry. RIP, but, it's as good a way to go as any. Honestly.
Yall got that video?
When we were kids we were all dumb. That said, anyone doing a viral video challenge is beyond dumb. Unfortunately, when you’re young you think you are invincible. Also, if you’re a guy you are doubly dumb. I think we are wired that way. I’m in my 60’s so I get the dumb part but I can’t recall the danger part. Even when I was young I was afraid to get hurt. I have never been a thrill seeker so I guess that helped.
Right, very intelligent people do these things for breakfast
lol
Darwin is proud. Some do drugs, some seek thrills, always ends in the same way, Darwin Award and NOFs given. Driver should have gotten manslaughter or murder 1, because that's the only way this could end up, like tossing someone over a cliff but forgetting to tie the rope. Or like crashing cars just to deploy air bags except the passenger side there is none and your friend eats it. It isn't the car manufactures fault it's because you are crashing cars on purpose for giggles!
All sympathy to the parents they did not deser this heartbreak
Social media kills.
Yes they would think of doing this on their own, they're teenagers. I doubt this story is even real. Just another psyop to try and justify why the government needs to survey the people 100% of the time. Teens have been doing things like this forever. Social media does not cause teenage behavior. Teenagers do.
Brilliant move.
