Dick Hoole’s camera reels, capturing life on the Bukit back when it was barely discovered. Hang around for a couple of shots of Gerry Lopez towards the end. Thanks to Dick for capturing these incredible images which inspired a thousand adventures.

What a shame what's happened to Bali. Thanks for posting this. Paradise lost for sure.
Esse filme me trouxe boas lembranças e muitas saudades de um tempo que não volta mais, fui obrigado a ouvir a musica do Pink Floyd TIME! Mahalo.
this is more interesting and beauty than anything shot in 4k, 5k. or 8k. Old film is so great
1:32 beautiful shot and music
Surf acabou com o lugar fuck ofg
I was lucky to surf Bali back in 1987, a teenager hitching a ride with fellow aussie surfers. Back then Canguu was empty.
Know it’s overrun by self entitled DH’s
I surfed Padang Padang in the early 90’s all by myself. I hitched a ride on the back of a local’s motorcycle down a dirt path and there was nobody around. Those days are long gone…
So cool to watch this! Gerry…what a legend!
One guy squealed. Loose lips sink ships.
I was so lucky to surf it for the first time in 1977 ………………paradise lost now !
Surfing in the 70's…wondrous…
Bali really was a magical place
I surfed it with Billy Powers, early 80's, we had to walk along the rocks from ULu….. epic days, anyone got a time capsule….
