I'm Moroccan and we got many university hospitals and a lot of private hospitals with plenty of not just doctors but professors (NOT THE BEST ON THE WORLD) but the are pretty good to handle situation like this.

I don’t why they didn’t operate him in Morocco we have some of the best doctors there is no difference between them and European or American doctors just westerners think they are more developed they have to get of that ego

A moroccan in the same circumstances will certainly die suffering because of the chaotic heath system this is exactly why immigrants are risking their lives in the ocean between morocco and Spain it's the sad truth .

I'd like to see the look on an average WW1/WW2 soldier that died helpless and alone in some ditch, forced to fight to save his country and his family, that all this effort and money would be spent to save a guy that voluntarily surfs huge and dangerous waves for fun. Im glad he was saved, but that's just f@cked up big time. I wish extreme sports guys could think of that before they go out and risk their lives for LITERALY nothing.

I was just wondering, why taking that huge risk, just to be operated in USA, the distance between Europe and Morocco is just 14 kilometers, I think it’s safer to be hospitalized over there, it was a life gambling

From Morocco and I live in LA. I don't know what hospital he was taken to, but there are good hospitals in both Rabat and Casablanca.
I think as he stated he was very emotional and wanted to get home more than anything else, and that can make your pain and agony worse. In all glad he made it, and speedy recovery.
If this happened to the wold champ in Morocco and they couldn't help him in the local hospital. Imagine the same situation for some Safi poor surf boys !

i'm very happy that billy made it .as a foreigner ,european, who lived in morocco some years , i believe that billy didn't go to a good hospital , since casablanca is a very bigg city and has different hospitals ,i would presume that some are bad , and others are very good and provide high and complexe cares .
